OUR STORY
HOW WE GOT STARTED
Despite recent advances in digital photography, film quality and resolution have not stood idle and have continued to advance, with a look that digital can only hope to imitate through the use of expensive and time-consuming digital rendering. That is why many film directors, cinematographers, independent filmmakers, and photographers (both amateur and professional) today still prefer to shoot directly on film. Kodak has also continued to expand their line of photographic film stocks, reintroducing Ektachrome 100D reversal film in both super 8mm, 16mm, and 35mm. And the public response has been tremendous! Select theaters across the nation also continue to re-install their film projectors for special 35mm and 70mm theatrical engagements as film enthusiasts clamor for a return to traditional, high-quality film projection. Napoleon, Oppenheimer, EO, Playtime, Alien, Aliens, Nope, Boogie Nights, The Master, The Hateful Eight, Dunkirk, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Phantom Thread, Ready Player One, The Searchers, Lawrence of Arabia, 2001, A Space Odyssey, Roma, Joker, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, West Side Story, The Master, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Wild Bunch, Vertigo, Airport, Spartacus, Streets of Fire, Malcolm X, Khartoum, Ghostbusters, and Starman have all become the latest and greatest film classics to join the special 70mm engagements, astounding film audiences across the nation. In addition, some of the finest, highest-budget films in Hollywood continue to be shot on film, rendering the highest visual quality for film enthusiasts. For the latest releases shot exclusively on film hitting your local theaters, check out Shot on Film | Kodak.
But the film revolution hasn't stopped there, production of new Super 8mm cameras and companies restoring old ones have also resumed as more new filmmakers are rediscovering the beauty, clarity, and incredible color only film photography can bring.
